If its well positioned, you won't notice it when driving. I have my Blackvue DR400 HD-II positioned in front of the rear view mirror, below my toll tag, wires concealed along the headlining, down the A-pillar, and through the back of the dash, and runs off power from the car stereo through a Power Magic Pro, so runs while the car runs (and afterwards until it drops below a certain voltage, at which time it switches itself off).
I often forget its there and only notice it when it starts up, powers down or if I switch it off manually.
If you were to position it in/behind your grille, you'd be forever cleaning either it, or the clear housing, and would defeat the purpose IMO,
