I absolutely love dark brews! What is THEE darkest beer you can buy? I typically buy Sniner Black Lager,Turbodog,or Guiness if I want dark. Any recommendations from my fellow BITOG`ers?

Rogue beers have a rating system for how much light can pass through the beer. Their chocolate stout and shakespeare stout are more opaque than 20k mile used motor oil. I held both up to an extremely intense light in a small glass and zero light made it through. That is dark! Both are fantastic btw.
I'm not too much of a DARK dark beer's but I LOVE IPA's.
Guiness is the darkest I have seen. Nasty!!! It's like drinking 10w30!!!!
I did go to the Guiness factory in Dublin Ireland, after we went to the Jameson Irish Whisky plant. They love serving you the stuff during the tour. I was plastered at 10:30am.

I am not usually a big Shiner fan but I gave the black lager a try and I really like it. Have some in the fridge now, in fact. Dark beers always seem appropriate in the winter.
The good people at Saranac make one called Black Forest that you could only get in their "sampler" packs. Yummy stuff. Too bad they do not sell that brand down here. Another insanely dark and good one is the Brooklyn Brewerys Dark Chocolate Stout, wow.
I would think most any porter or stout would satisfy your dark urges. I have been meaning to try the Sam Adams Cream Stout, myself.

Hard to define "darkest". Eventually you get to the point where after pouring a glass and holding up to a light none will come through.
Generally speaking, I guess I would consider Imperial Stouts to be the "darkest" beers. The trademark of that style is being dark colored, thick, richly flavored, and high ABV.
Also keep in mind darker does not mean higher ABV! I've had plenty of beers that are as pale as Budweiser that would knock your socks off! Likewise, a beer like Guinness is actually pretty low ABV, something like 4% or 5%.

Just to name a few the Bell's might be the one to find they also make a Java Stout thats good once you enter craft beers you will never go back.

I love dark beers, and am a big fan of Guinness... except the Guinness Extra Stout. That stuff is dark, and so "flavorful" that I can't drink it.

Triple or Double Bock.
As mention years ago, Double Bock seems to be illegal in most Southern States.

Yuengling Porter and Black & Tan, Saranac Black Forest and Black& Tan are excellent. Beck's Dark is pretty tasty as well. As weird as this might sound, Michelob Porter is actually very good for a macro. It's more of a northeast beer but I had Stagmeier Porter on Thursday night which was very tasty!
Everybody on this site should be drinking "old engine oil". It's a black ale brewed by harviestoun brewery in Scotland. It looks just like the stuff we drain out of our cars and I have to warn you, it is not cheap.

I have found it at liquor stores that sell a lot of imported beers.
Another vote for Three Floyds. Fantastic quality brews!
I'm not sure what qualifies a beer as "darkest" but Dopple Bock (Optimator, Celebrator, Salvator) or Imperial Stout (Old Rasputin) would get my guess.
Although Guinness is dark in color it is neither strong nor "thick". Porters are considered "light stouts".
