Dark at 5pm.

Looks sunny today so I'm heading outside with dogs soon but yeah its a legit thing, have you seen the lights they use indoors in places like AK where its a few hrs a day of sunlight?

I do have one of those lights and honestly I used it the other night while watching TV and I did feel much better after about 1 hour.

I don't like it either, but this definitely isn't the first year I haven't liked it. It's worse though because my hours were changed from 8:30-5:30 to 9:00-6:00 a few months ago. I don't mind the 9:00 part but leaving work at 6:00 sucks.

For the first time ever this time of year is bothering me. Dark at 5 is a killer.
If this isn't bad enough it is gray here most days. Makes me tired amongst other things. Anyone else.
Doesn't really bother me though I would prefer light till 7 during the warmer months; it's just the way our orbit does things across our latitude. My wife had bought one of those lamps as she is prone to depression.

With me It's the " other things" that are stacking up to a point never experienced before. Not sure what to make of it.
Thank fully I am a hermit in a log cabin on a hill with little social interaction. I just do my thing. which is not much :)

Maybe you need a "latitude adjustment". Visit the Kiwi's for a month to set you straight.

I have the same issue. Close to SAD, which compounds with other issues this time of year. I'm terrible about taking Vit-D and it shows in my blood work every year.

RE: lights. Unless your light is putting out UV-B, it's not doing anyting for Vit D creation in your body. Blue light, however, is known to wake you up and energize, since it tricks our body into thinking it's a bright and beautiful day, even if it's not. I had a blue light but lost it at work a couple of years ago and never replaced it. I have no experience nor have I ever researched UV lights. I'd be careful with them, though.

link please> I may need to buy was considering having it on in our "gym" room to see if that double dip can really help
I put quite a bit of study into SAD lamps in true BITOG fashion and believe the science behind it is substantial.

This site has good information that is easy to digest: https://www.day-lights.com/homepage/how-light-therapy-works/

This model is a good value and it checks off all the requirements: clinically tested, 10,000 lux, UV safe, light from above, big enough/not huge, etc.. Ugly as sin, though!

For most, the best time to use the lamp is in the morning, soon after awakening.

Blue light vs. white light is controversial and should be a personal decision. Blue claims to be more effective, but there are claims that it "might" have the potential for eye damage for some people. https://cet.org/popular-light-box-m...ue-light-apparatuses-effective-treatment-sad/

As always, be your own self advocate, study the material, and consult your Dr. vs. oil forum opinions.

Right? I probably say it every year now that I'm old, but I have such a hard time adjusting when the clocks go back an hour. I still fell like I haven't adjusted.
