Got this supertech filter from Walmart.com delivered the other day. It appeared someone forced the filter in the retail packaging and damaged it. It was not damaged in shipping.

Slightly annoying to have to return it, but I used the Walmart app to initiate a refund and was told to keep it and I'll get my money back.. So now I basically have a free filter. Happy with the customer service.

Here is what it looks like. Mind you, this is after it being out of the box for several days and me doing my best to straighten it out. It was worse. I think it'll work fine...

More and more I see examples of 'disgruntled' box loading or careless parts picking.

AND, this doesn't include times where obviously used parts are shipped by, for example, RockAuto.
Sure, it may be some kind of honest mistake, but I'm settled with the idea that sleazy companies will ship bad parts.
Perhaps they think the customer will source good parts elsewhere and fail to return the baddies.

What I don't like about ST CAFs, 'unless it has changed recently', they come in box that is closed by a serrated cardboard zip closure. So, to inspect one must unzip the box which means closure on box permanently broken. I wouldn't buy one for that reason alone. Some might say just open it and put it back if not right. I'm not down with that.

Reads like WM customer service made it right though, which is about all one can ask after something like this.

Mine is just a normal box with the clear plastic tape to seal each side. It may vary depending on model.

That one looks pretty crunched up. Good return outcome. I'll make a mention about the Walmart app return. That return app process has made the returns so much better. There have been several times where the WM "Service" desk will tell me they "can't return" something. It was kind of funny when I ended up telling them that I ended up going through the app & got a refund. Some of them have their own ideas of what or what not should be returned but it doesn't matter, the WM policy does. Now, I think the app return process is only available if I've ordered online & store pickup but I can't remember.

Thought I'd update my previous ST CAF box observation. Look at a few in WM and did see clear tape is now used. I'm still not keen on breaking the seal in store to check, but much better than previous box design. Worst case, buy unopened, head out to parking lot, check there.
