Made in Thailand, was on a 2.4L Lancer for 4,213 miles/8 months, installed with dealer oil change using Eneos 0W-20. Car is currently at 7,342 running OEM oil filter and Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20. Filter price is $5.18. From what I can tell most aftermarket oil filters for this car. except for Fram, are taller and skinnier. Somewhat like Mitsubishi's only other oil filter, MZ690072.

looking at pic #5. why cant the oil just push into the open slot in each pleat, go under the glue and get to the inside tube? Yes its a narrow path but probably has more gaps and less pressure drop than going through the paper.

The ends of every pleat are glued shut. You can see the glue in some of those photos. The ring around the center tube on the ends of the pleats is also glued/sealed.

You might find the link interesting. The OP of the filter comparison used the same method as member river_rat who did similar filter testing on bitog. At time rr did them, his results turned out to be not only in line with ISO 4548-12 ratings, but also predictive when results of the then unknown Motorcraft, Toyota/Denso and Honda oem were released later in Amsoil sponsored ISO tests.

Even though it's now over 6 years old and some of the filters tested have changed, the topic Mitsubishi filter is the same construction shown. It's rather long, but if you have an interest in filters and filtration, worth a look. Like river_rat's work on bitog, it's well done imo. Thanks for c&p.

Lonzbera Somewhat like Mitsubishi's only other oil filter said:
Mitsubishi have a lot of other filters...oil, air, fuel and cabin. You don't get many because I guess there is not much of a range of Mitsubishi vehicles in the US. I always used them at the dealership, unless they were old high mileage and the customer wanted cheap. Not noticeable on smaller filters, but on larger (diesel) filters, the genuine filters were much heavier than any aftermarket filters.

Thank you for the link Sayjac, I had suspected OEM filters weren't the best no surprise there. The car does about maybe 5k-6k a year if that. Maybe I'll try another filter. With that thread being somewhat old & filter manufacturers being changed I don't know which to try, synthetic media?

Yes MMNA only offers those two oil filters on the current lineup of cars.
