Element is drying out for more pictures.

About a year in service with M1 0w40.

I agree with that, why does it look like it went through [censored].

Purolator's wire backing certainly appears to be very weak thus allowing wavy media. Otherwise, it seems to have done the job.

Maybe that's one reason they are changing their full synthetic media design with the "BOSS".

Perhaps Purolator's (previous?) pleating machine makes it wavy, then it remains that way in service?

Aren't there some pics of this on unused PSL series filters cut open?

I can't say it looks good just because it is a Purolator product and you need to tip toe lightly talking about them. The seam area looks bad, maybe when it is dried out it will show something. To me, the filter looks plugged up and ready, overdue to me, for changing in less than 10k.

Thought it was from a diesel, wait, can't say too much more about extending drains and horrible looking filters especially from Purolator. I guess this was less than 10k on a Honda from what I read. I think those are gas.

Correction, I meant to say: "Nice filter, try 2x next time use with confidence."

OK I goofed, it was someone else saying it was the filter on their Honda, meaning same type. Probably was on a diesel from the look of it.

OH and it is from my Acura RL (3.5L C35A engine) it is very much petrol. Has about 169,000 on it.

Well, you're right about one thing.

We will see how bad the oil is next week. It probably has plenty of TBN left. The engine suffered through 7500 mile 2 year dealer oil changes with various Castrol products (usually syntec blend) before I got it so it isn't super clean like the other car. Also even new M1 0w40 is darker than for instance 0w20.

There may be something to that, the Distance Plus had similar bunched pleats and if the equipment glues it together crooked, it is going to stay crooked.

Let me look, if not I may sacrifice my last one of these - I'm not excited about using it anyway.

It did the job - at least it appears to have done the job, to the extent one can tell by looking.

It didn't look very good doing it though...

Will I be deemed a racist if I say any negativity about this filter and recommend the cheaper/ better Ultra?

Heck, a $4 WIX would have looked better than this wire-backed thing.
