It was nice and round when put on guess that it was dropped or something , I take it that maybe that was the cause of the tilt on the caps , they are very tight.

I don't see what you're talking about. End caps glued on all crooked?

If you're talking about the one end cap shifted over some, then yes, that can happen since the cap is larger than the OD of the media, and the cap could be glued on not perfectly concentric with the OD of the media assy.

Look at the bottom two pictures and tell me that top metal cap is glued on completely central to the media. Its off by a ton, worse than any filter I've ever seen before.

Impossible, since the shifted end cap is on the base end of the filter, and the dent in the can is on the dome end.

Go back and read my post above again ... you quoted it before I was done tweaking it.

I read your ninja edit. My point stands. I've never seen a Wix or similar with a ridiculous way too large cap like that. If that were a Fram it would be written off as being unmistakably poor quality... I don't like that construction at all.

Wow Did not think I would have been putting out there another bad Purolater defect per sec .

Technically, it doesn't hurt anything if the end caps are not laser aligned with the center of the center tube. There is enough "slop in the system" inside the guts of a filter to account for things like that.

That filter looks great. Sure it was only in use a short time, but look at all the media, the sturdy encaps and construction. All for a $3-4 filter.

No way the FRAM lovers can look at their filter and say it looks better with it's minimun filter media and cheap endcaps. The fiber endcaps are for cost savings don't let 'em fool you. The Fram costs a little more as well.

I think the one picture showing the off center cap is due to the damaged the filter experienced.

Both pictures clearly show the top endcap is cattywhumpus off center. Puro is out of control lately.

GMBoy you gonna spew Fram hate in Puro threads now too? Geez give it a break we all know you don't like them and you are free not to buy them to your little hearts content.

It is ironic how you will bash Fram to no end, yet will post a glowing endorsement of this Puro kindergarten project, all the while claiming you have no agenda. Funny!

My ignore list is getting unmanageable lately what is up with this place?

Doubt it, the off center end cap is on the base end, the damage on the can was on the dome end. Besides, once the end cap is glued on, it's not going to shift to the side even from an impact. It was just glued on off center ... seen it before, and as said it really doesn't hurt anything.

To me too. And I'm laughing because now the obvious haters have the cap off even when it's obvious they are still on.

Really! What's that black circular nitrile object (adbv) visible in pictures (from the top) #2,3,5,6 and 7.

Does look like someone dropped the can though along the way. Trying figure how to blame that on Purolator.

Its the rubber thing that sets on top of the filter neck, It was dropped after it came off the car. 83 pleats in this thing as well. Well if that is the valve it sure does not move one bit.

So you do see it now? Technically it sits on the base and is called an anti drain back valve (adbv), black nitrile in this case. So it does have one, no if to it. And it's designed to sit firmly over the intake holes until oil pressure moves it away from them.
