Cut open new ac delco pf61e

Here is a quick and crude cut I did at work yesterday only had about 5 extra minutes, filter got left out in a pop up thunder storm didn't want to use it.

I was surprised by how strong the ecore was took quite a bit of substantial force to damage it. Filter pleats were all nice and uniform and didnt tear easy, any damage seen is from me.

All I run is AC Delco filters on my GM vehicles, they are good filters. They are made by Champion labs which also seems to make the Supertech filters which are pretty much identical to AC Delco from teardown videos I have seen.

People love to hate and make baseless claims against these filters though.

I run AC Delco or M1 on all of my GM stuff. I have never had any issue.

Yes. I have 6 GM vehicles. 2017 3500HD 6.0, 2015 Malibu 2.0 LTG, 2014 Caprice PPV 6.0, 2005 LaCrosse 3800, 2000 Trans Am WS6 and a 1997 K1500. Everyone of them has almost always had the AC Delco filter on them. The Trans Am and Caprice get tracked from time to time and both are over 400 HP to the wheels. They have always worked well for me.

I've stuck with napa/wix/fram past 10+ years or so for our cars but I'm going to swap over to these the price is right and the oil is never run past 3k. Had a problem with a wix before and I don't like the new fram ultra as much as I once did and don't think they are worth the premium.

I am going to assume you have a Z28? I do 3k oil changes in the WS6. The Malibu gets 4 or 5K (D.I. 2.0 turbo) The rest get or will get 5K oil changes.

Yes a 98z and have ls engines in other things. The ls cars get short oci because I feel its a good idea with the heat here and occasionally run them hard. The econo cars I do pretty much the same as you - 5-7k oci, with supertech filters and whatever syn, syn blend is on sale when I can get around to them.

Yep I love the LS stuff. I have a LS1/L77/L96.

Yup, I’ve replaced many factory PF64 and they’re E CORE and looked good. One today had 9k so first oil change. Cut it at work, looked great.

While there is no official interval listed for these filters, obviously the owners manual would be the fallback. But Supertech filters are made by the same manufacturer Champion. The filters on videos I have seen shows the AC Delco and Supertech are identical.

Supertech lists 10,000 mile interval for their filters. I personally do not believe in extended oil changes like that but I would think it is safe to say these filters are good for 10k which would fall in line with 53' Stude's experience.

I run Ac Delco full synthetic in my 08 Chevy HHR & use the Ac Delco filter, no problems with it, over 250,000 miles on it.
