Sorry that I don't have any pix, but I don't have a camera right now. Anyway, this filter was taken off back in early october of last year. I then put it in the box, (open end down) and set it in a plastic dish, and set it in my cupboard with the new filters. Found it to day, and decided to cut it open. Now, let me explain that this filter was only on the car (my 65 mustang) for one year, and only had about 1500 miles on it, all summer driving. After cutting it open I firmly think I could have run it another year easily. After sitting 4+ months, I still drained almost a full pint of oil out of it, so obviously the nitrile valve really sealed up good. I have installed a Fram Ultra on it now, so will probably change the oil next fall but leave the filter on. Maybe even even for 3 years??

I built the thread in the link below from beginning to end with my LG Android phone. I used tinypic.com for picture hosting. If your phone has a camera you should be able to post pictures.

The Ultra can safely be left on for the full 15,000 mile interval, the synthetic media will not break down with age or oil exposure. If you want to change it every three years it's your money but both oil and filter can go longer than you plan.

Mr.Q,

How can I get pics from my iPhone 4 or iPad to photobucket for uploading to BITOG?

I'll send Fram an email asking is the Ultra good for 15k regardless of years or do you follow the manufacturer's guidelines. Will report back.

Your pictures have file names. Determine where they are and then go to a hosting site and upload them.

Of course Fram will recommend that you follow the vehicle manufacturer's maintenance schedule. So if the vehicle schedule says to change the filter at 1 year regardless of the miles, then that will be the answer.

Well, Bill ar Fram said it is based on miles not time. Ten I said what, 5-10 years and he said that was pushing it because of contaminants and condensation. But we kind of unofficially agreed that 2yrs was tops for an oil/filter change with synthetic oil.

S, I'd venture to say conventional oil and filter is good for a year, and a synthetic oil and filter for 2yrs.

He did not mention manufacturer's suggestions however. But of course you can do as you please and run your farm truck for a 5yr change, but I'd bet longevity will suffer and not be optimal. As for me, I'll stick to the OLm or yearly as the OM states, sounds reasonable to me
