no that's not a hair, it is glue from the end cap

looks good, I got a used one with 5k miles and 6 months I'm going to cut soon, thanks for the pic. Unfortunentally this filter increased in price a dollar, my Silverado will see ST's from now on.

Well I read in a article that the Delco has GM spec media, I emailed champ a million times and they couldnt release the info. I use the ST on my Sierra quite a bit and it has had a happy life.

Yeah, I don't know if the increase in price could justify me using this filter, E-core/w cardboard endcaps. You might as well stick to the ST, or use the $ for a better filter (puro classic, P!, WIX,etc.etc.

BTW. Thanks for doing this Texan, Really appreciate to see the guts of these things.

Thanks for this! I do not use them, but it adds to the overall knowledge to everyone else that does.

Thanks again!

compared to the one I just cut open this one has a bypass.
Aren't they both for GM? Why one with a bypass and one without? Thought GM had the built in engine bypass.

Thanks to the OP for posting. Is the classic design of this filter readily available at this point?

Not sure it is confusing me, this one has that really big thread/adbv combo bypass and the other one I cut open just has a ADBV. Odd.

I dont see any holes in the flat area that would be a bypass. The holes that are located on the angle part just under the larger holes are the actual inlet holes for the filter.

then why does my other filter have the other type of adbv? in my other post.

A adbv and pressure by pass are two different things, are we talking the same thing here?

The ST with the combined ADBV and bypass valve has two sets of holes in the base plate. One set is on the angled edge and the bypass holes are in the flat area.

Here are pics of a cut open ST with the ADBV and bypass combo, notice the holes in the base plate.

Right but what vehicle application is that filter used on? didn't say..any GM i know of the BP is in the block so no need for it in the filter, unless he used a filter application not meant for GM use.

I think right now we are trying to establish if the other filter actually had a bypass or if the ADBV is being confused as being a bypass, that is why I posted the pic so that we can see the two sets of holes in the base plate.
