This filter, an AC Delco PF-47E, is off of my Dad's 2003 Chevy Venture. He is losing coolant, and we suspect an intake manifold gasket is shot. (I will be sending a sample to the lab for confirmation of coolant in the oil.)
There's minimal sludge in the can and pleats (that's why I didn't bother to take photos of them), but at the bottom of the e-Core cage, there was a mass of sludge, near the leaf spring.
I was a little surprised to see sludge in the center cage. Shouldn't the pleats and the filter can be the home for sludge?
I did the best I could with my camera's lousy macro and auto-focus.
