WOAH.. sorry I couldn't log in and tried getting my pw but it kept saying wrong email and username so I made another.. but [censored].... I switched to Redline 5w30 and I was making a short video clip a few days back and under some throttle sitting im my driveway its blowing out tons of whitish grey smoke when I let off the pedal. I can only assume its oil. I have dyno runs from the month before when using the mobil 5w50 and even off the limiter when he let off the gas at 7850 rpm only a wisp of smoke was coming out of the exhaust under decel.
My builder says the oil is too thin. I did some reading lately and I found my tolerances/clearances are a little on the larger end of many engine builders reccomendations. .0025 on rods and mains. I also have read that forged pistons have greater clearances than the stock Hyperwhatevertheycallit material so a thicker oil will help in that regard.
What do you guys think ?? Honestly I gave it gas 3x in my driveway for sound clips, after the 2nd time revving it to 3k rpm there was a little smoke, when i gave it a decent stab the 3rd time it literally looked like it blew out like a fire extinguisher
The car was cold and was only on for 30 seconds to a minute so maybe thats why ? My builder is saying to go back to the 5w50 (sigh), i was thinking the redline 10w40 might be a better compromise?
One thing I noticed for sure though, after a day or 2 od driving the fresh Mobil 1 would look black on the dipstick tube, the redline still looks like it came out of the bottle.....
