Cunifer brake line

I just had to have the rusted brake lines from the new flex hose to the ABS unit replaced on my Jeep. They used Cunifer brake line and said it will never rust. If its truly rust free why doesn't everyone use it?
 
We have no problem with rust on anything under the car in So Cal, my 1994 LS400 still has original brake lines with no sign of rust and no need to be replaced anytime soon.

For any car with exposure to corrosive chemicals such as salt , cunifer should have been used at the time of manufacture. It really is a safety issue for aging cars.
 
Cunifer is a brand of nickel copper line like NiCopp it will never rust!
I use it for almost every line inc trans, brake and fuel (different sizes), it really performs well in the salt belt.
OEM on the high end cars.
 
I used it on my Triumph, supplied by Automec.
It will last forever and is also easy to bend to shape.
 
The OEM brake lines on both our cars are at least coated in something. Better than the uncoated plain steel brake lines that used to be common on most cars made earlier.
 
OEM brake lines used to be terne coated. I think they switched to an organic coating to get the lead out of cars.

Copper and nickel are very expensive. I too think cars in the rust belt should be made of these materials, but the manufacturing facilities haves no way of knowing where cars will ultimately be sold.

I also qustion whether the Cunifer brake line, or other copper-nickel brake lines have the same burst resistance as the bundy tubing that is used in brake lines.
 
NiCopp Burst 17,000 psi 4200 psi working pressure.
Steel Burst 17,900 psi 4,500 psi working pressure.

The Nicopp has all US and international certs.
Another consideration is these pressure limits are for new lines. NiCopp doesn't corrode so i should maintain its ratings longer than steel which can begin to corrode in a short time in the salt belt and significantly weakened.

What about flex lines for all lines. For my boat trailer brake upgrade I bought a kit of flex brake lines to go from the coupler to the first axle and across. It was not that expensive.
 
Two other material properties to consider are elastic modulus and fatigue resistance. I've read people reporting the copper alloy brake lines expand too much, resulting in a soft pedal.

These are all things to consider. I like the idea of brake lines that don't corrode.
