OK then...from your title description I thought someone was selling Cadillac cats really cheap.

Did they at least pick up all those pieces of catalyst media and recycle them for the platinum?

LOL! what a morrooon!

It's one of the prime examples of tampering with an already sophisicated EFI/computer mgmt systems by absolute amateurs.

Yes, it does bring smiles back on my face tho....

20 litres of cat gut runs around $200 Oz.

I'm no expert on such things, but my personal theory is that, for whatever reason, his very poorly tweaked engine was feeding vast amounts of unburned mixture down the exhaust and into the cat. Once there, the conditions were apparently right for explosive ignition of the mixture, which seems to have happened with enough force to tear apart the inside of the cat.

Well, most of us have seen or heard of the potentially destructive condition known as pre-ignition -- looks like there's also one that might be called post-ignition. . .

Well it certainly won't be now, given that its cats' guts are now little more than some very expensive confetti. . .

from the comments it sounded like he messed up wiring. IF he added that AEM low imp box for the injectors and used the stock injectors for it, I have no idea what kind of adverse side effects that will cause..

It was probably needed to provide space for the turbo and piping.

When I turbo'ed my SVT Contour, the battery had to be moved to the trunk to make room for the turbo and the air to water inter-cooler box.

We also put the tank for the inter-cooler in the trunk.

I listened to the audio again a couple times. I love some of the recorded comments, particularly, "that dust can't be good for you..." spoken as they're all standing in a cloud of dirty exhaust and catalyst remains.

No indeed, I bet it's not.
