I was actually considering buying a Mustang GT in the fall but that is going to be put on hold I think.

I wonder... do all V8s have guzzler tax on them now? or is it just over a certain HP or displacement value?

Nah... gas mileage is what counts.

Last I checked it was a combination of city/highway, and around 17. (!)

next week (exaggeration) it'll be $150 a barrel. THen $175 a barrel. Sadly I wish I was joking!! Let's hope we all maintain our sense of humour then. But alas, incrementalism owns us.

The price of gas is is approaching $5.44 per gallon like a NASCAR heading to the finish line. Oil has been called black gold. or something close.

I mentioned that Buster . Over the years I sold my motorcycles, ATVs, boat etc. I saw the potential of the price of gas going up. I would rather invest the extra $$$ into something that hopefully would give me somewhat of a return.

I still think that the scooter thing will catch on like wild fire in this country at some point. I mean, you can buy scooters 5-600cc that get 50+ mpg and that'll do 100 mph for around 6 grand. If one is commuting to work (not buying groceries or needing to haul anything) the scooter represents a great opportunity to minimize the effect of high gas prices.
+ license fees, taxes ,insurance ,helmet, leathers and maintenance will buy lots of gasoline.

I remember that and I suggested it would not be a good idea, Besides you are too young to be going through your mid life crisis.

Yes but I am getting away from gas powered recreation.

Redding calif $4.43 for diesel and $3.89 regular.

with the price of fuel, I thought about learning how to ride a motorcycle for mpg or start riding the bus (I can ride for free) but they are both dangerous alternatives!

I thought about breaking out the bicycle, but in a month or so, I'd kill myself on a 5 mile each way ride in the 100F+ temps.

Quit thinking about taking action. Over the last couple months I've

-- removed my passenger side mirror for (negligible) aero improvement

-- built a 150 MPG motorized bicycle, and commuted to work on it

-- applied for and got a date for a motorcycle license class/test cram session weekend.

Everybody thinks the time is right for OTHERS to take action! Going to have to do it oneself.
