The few friends who are brave enough to visit my bachelor pad have commented on the mess of car parts and tools. In order to attract more visitors, I decided to scrape up $70 for two shelves and organize a good portion of my junk.

There are a few things to note. First, the shelves are made in the USA, and are supposedly capable of holding 750 lb (150lb/shelf). The number is probably extremely optimistic, so I fully expect to be awoken by a loud crash and explosion during the middle of the night. Do note the 100lb AFF floor jack that is on the bottom shelf.

Second, if your friends and family do not care, forget about buying shelves. You can save $70 and store just as much stuff (if not more) with a bunch of boxes.

Third, a dead-blow mallet works wonders for assembling these plastic shelves.

lol.. I have the exact same shelf. And yeah all the shelves are sagging. Either my junk weights more than I think or like you said, their rating is optimistic.

either way, it is still holing strong... these really are some beefy shelves for being made of plastic.

Nice, but someday I'll have to take pictures of my 160 quarts of oil.

A floor jack off the floor and tucked away. Sign of a caring owner. Somebody you buy cars from second hand. I look at stuff like that to size up PO's. If he takes care of the floor jack, has quality oil on the shelf, hes more than likely taking care of the car.

IF you see ST and any "Stop Leak" products

Putting up shelves ain't gonna attract more visitors. You might get more return visits, but if your friends are skeeved out by that small amount of stuff to not come over, you need better friends.

I'm seeing way too many Lucas bottles in these 'stash' pictures.

I know some people who had that same attitude with ammo. Now they are without.

I need to see a shiny stainless steel roller case containing all of your Snap-On's. That is the only way to increase the class of your clientel or at least that is what I have been told. My HF or Gearwrench is unable to do that :-)

Thanks. As you can see, most of the products on the shelf are either Genuine/OE parts and fluids, NAPA premium products, or BG products.

The only bottle of Lucas is the UCL, which is free to any locals who want it. The bottles around the UCL are 2L or ATE TYP200, 2 qt of Valvoline DOT3/4 and various OE Toyota and Honda fluids.

Also, friends hold each other to high standards. They keep checks on each other, and encourage/expect them to grow both personally and professionally. Those who do not do that, are not friends.

The Snap-On tools seem sleep in a Craftsman box with a broken lock. Blasphemy at its finest!

Don't feel bad, I was cleaning out my garage Sunday morning and put a bunch of the oil in one area. I am bringing my MATCO box home, so I needed to make room. I still have another part of the garage to clean out. BTW it is mostly my grandfather's stuff he collected over living in the house for years.

My friends and I hold each other to the highest standard that we know better to comment on anyone's living conditions unless they are dangerous; to mind our own business when it comes to each others' professions & to support one another in our decisions unless it's morally, emotionally, fiscally or physically harmful.

But if y'all are happy with management pep talks and you're happy with your shelves, more power to you.
