I bought this CRC Syn Grease on the CHEAP at PepBoys and wanted to try it for my brake jobs. I know there are better products and I have been using Permatex Silicone Brake Lube(Black) but, I bought the CRC linked below, on the cheap(not $19.99) shown in the link!

I still have Prematex BLACK but, would like some opinions Please

Despite being synthetic it still caused the caliper pin bushings on the front brakes on my 02 Silverado to swell up. I removed the bushings since I didn't want the bushings to incur brake drag. Good for metal to metal contact points vs anti seize.

Right! This container doesn't have the brush but, I'll just dip my finger in the container and spread it on like "Butta"!

One of the guys I work with uses this stuff...used to anyway. It swells a lot of rubber. Somehow a bunch of broken glass got into the tub and since then the 15k mile brake jobs seem to have dried up.

I've heard about the CRC drying up in a short period of time. I may only use it on the backing plates of the Pads for now(as an anti-squeel) and keep using the PERMATEX Black on the sliders as my little jar is getting low anyway.

Thanks,

In addition to this^^^
I have always liked the Permatex BLACK better than the GREEN as it better withstands the cold temps of Wester NY State and the winter road salt, snow & slush as well as our warm summers. I am hoping to get at least similar results with the CRC!

It really seems that there are a lot of different experiences with all these different brake lube products. The fact that one person gets excellent results and the other gets rubber swelling with the same product indicates that there are lots of differences due to individual vehicle brand differences. How else can you explain it? I know we had a discussion here about Toyota rubber brake component swelling with this CRC product and that very special care had to be used regarding product choice.

I am of the school of using one type of product for enclosed pins and another (high solids, waterproof) for the exposed metal to metal areas.

When I contacted CRC, they told me the combined % of graphite, moly, and teflon solids in their product was well below 3%. So, I chose not to use this in the weather exposed areas. Something like Molykote 77 is much better.
