Crank bolt torque

On a 3MZ-FE, I didn't torque the crank bolt (to 162 ft-lbs.). I just gave it a full-send with an ordinary impact (20 gal. compressor). I doubt that the gun put out anything close to that required amount. What are the odds of it coming loose?

If you think it's not close, I wouldn't feel comfortable with it. Maybe your local parts store can loan you a torque wrench with a deposit and you can then properly torque that bolt.

Did you use any loctite or anti-seize?
How many ugga-duggas did you give it?

Depending on these factors the odds could be anywhere from 2:1 all the way up to 1,000:1.

That's all I ever did on my chevy aveo and it's still running at 260K miles. Part of it depends on how you're going to be running it. If it never sees more than 3000rpm it's a lot different than if you're going to be running up at red line all the time. If it's automatic then you have to be able to keep the engine from turning to torque it.

OK, someone seriously needs to create a reference table that converts Nm or Lbs-Ft to Ugga-Duggas.

Impossible for us to say. You could be over, under or spot on.

Depends on if they shared crank bolt technology with Honda.

With Honda crank bolts you can put them in finger tight and they will tighten themselves to 'enough' where you need a weighted socket and 1" impact wrench with a commercial Ingersol Rand compressor on a trailer to get them off.

Seriously though, chances are you'll be ok. Find a friend with an appropriate wrench and check if you'll sleep better.
