I saw an ad in Craigslist today that said, "Lincoln welder $1." I called the number, and sure enough, he said he would sell me a Lincoln 250/125 AC/DC welder in excellent condition for $1.00. I went up and got it, and he threw in 50+ pounds of welding rod to boot. He said he bought it new, and just wanted to get rid of it. I didn't want to ask too many questions, so we loaded it in my van and I hit the road. I haven't actually tried it due to the rain, but I'm not really worried about my investment.

yeah! You can't get a bargain if you don't bargain!!

WOW.. i never thought i see things like that go for $1. Or anything for that matter.

I tried to sell my old TV for $1 (was actually lazy to move it) no bites, listed it for $10 and TONS of people were biting. Maybe it was a filter.

Why would a thief let it go for a buck though?

Sounds to me like a yuppie wanted a new hobby but got in over his head or something.

Me as well. I bought a used Lincoln mig welder through my stepson for 75 bucks. The welder was over 600 bucks new and this welder isn't all that old.

I suspect it was stolen from what I have heard through conversation between him and his mom and he is no angel.

@OP...nice score.

Good point. If a thief was just trying to dump it, they'd probably just throw it in a ditch, not bothering to sell it for a dollar.

Actually, as he was trying to dig it out from under various bits of junk in his garage, he said, "It's a dollar... unless you want to haggle," which I took as humor, and handed him a dollar. Who knows? Maybe I could have gotten it for 90 cents.

I found these deals frequently in well off neighborhood. I got a nursing glider for $100 that was originally for $400, used it for a few months, and sell it for $140.

Well off people have no time dealing with a few tens of dollar differences. Middle class seller on the other hand feels like they have to sell for how much they bought or they'll feel guilty.
