Craigslist email: like yelling into space

There is more to selling a car than putting it on CL for the private sale book value and having a seller with a suitcase full of money meeting you the next morning ready to sign a bill of sale.

There is a reason why the on-the spot car buying companies pay quite a bit less. There is work involved to get a car sold, and they need to make a profit. Some folks don't mind paying for that convenience. Others would rather do the work themselves to save all of that money. But there is work involved in getting a car sold, sometimes very little work and other times an awful lot of work.

It is what it is...

What are the legitimate reasons for not including a phone number in an ad?

You don't want calls at 3am asking if the car is still available and then they hang up.

I've never had that problem...

My guess is that others have had this problem. Even if not, most sellers do not want to take a chance that their phone will be bombarded.

One of the three finally responded after a follow up. Naturally it was the one I was least interested in.

The ad is on the internet and email is the communication device for the internet. Who wants to drop everything to take a phone call? You reply to an email at your leisure.

I have had great luck with google voice as texting and phone number for CL transactions. You can listen into a voicemail which I force caller to announce name before connecting to voicemail or me. Also text from anywhere and don't even have to own a phone. Just need a computer and browser to talk and text.
