I found a scam locally for an OBS ford truck that looked legit until I responded and it then became apparent it was a scam.

Come on guys it was obviously a salvage title, none of the panels line up on the front of the vehicle and there's different color paint. Salvage title, lower price.

Betting he/she found issues after they bought it and are trying to unload it.

A rebuilt car does not qualify for a factory warranty. BTW-he has already misrepresented the car when he said "clean title".

This. None of the factory warranties would apply on a rebuilt car.

Ask him his address to meet and if its the same 2711 adress like in the pic, its probaly not a scam? Could have a major engine probelm or rallyed hard for 17k miles?

haven't there been several flood / storm situations that could result in a salvage title? aren't there still several people that rebuild out of there house? making a perfect rebuild difficult but an ok rebuilt possible for an ok price?

Both photos are of the same side. Makes you wonder about the other side.

In addition to the usual mechanical inspection, I wonder if you could get an autobody inspection.

I bought a new 2000 Toyota Solara and found out several years later than the right rear panel had been repainted. I was at a body shop to talk about having some paint work done on another car and the body man spotted the repainted panel right off. I could see the defects when they were pointed out but I didn't spot them myself.

So I now insist on written assurance on the bill of sale (of a new car) that there has been no body damage. And that's why I wonder about a body shop inspection.

The guy didn't give much explanation, but you haven't caught him in a lie either-because he didn't give details.
The guy never said the car was in an accident, but he also didn't say it was NOT in an accident.

Only if he denies an accident and you find a report of an accident on the carfax or something then you have him on lying.

The guy said everything is new inside, BUT maybe the outside is damaged.
There's only pictures of the left side of the car. Maybe there's a huge scrape down the right side of the car.



If I were in his position and had all the time in the world, I'd to cast a wide net too as my first posting try. Only after he gets tired of people calling and having to explain over and over the reason for the price, then maybe he'll put up the extra info.

No VA inspection sticker - The sticker is clearly in the middle of the windshield.
No VA front plate - Maybe he transferred tags to the new car he bought - that's how they do tag transfers in VA.
Ridiculously low price - yeah, maybe a little low, but...... it's a stick shift which most people don't want....and maybe the buyer is motivated.

Just run a CarFax, ask questions, do a thorough test drive checking all the accessories. Check that the radio works and then turn it off during the drive.

Here in Utah salvage title vehicles are very popular because one can usually save thousands. As a matter of fact-there are a few dealers that just sell cars with salvage titles. Also-you can get a nicer car for less dollars due to the salvage title.
