Why does Costco only carry one brand of oil i.e. Mobil 1? I wish they would carry Pennzoil Platinum or some other oils as well.

Talk to the store manager. The one in our area carries Chevron Supreme, Chevron Delo, Pennzoil but not PP, and Mobil 1.

Ours carries Mobil 1 and Shell dino.
Mine also carries Chevron supreme conventional but I don't use conventional oil in any of my vehicles.

Ask your Costco manager. I'll bet he carries more than one brand of oil. Perhaps you were in the store when they were out of stock on something.
We would buy flat bread or cracker bread at Costco. They stopped carring it. I send a email and asked why and please carry it.
The response was...something to the effect... they carry what sells. If it doesn't sell they won't carry it.
I would suspect it's the same with oil as flat bread.

Costco's business model depends upon selling very high volumes of a very small number of items. Most carry one synthetic oil and one conventional oil, each in just s few common weights.
But not to worry, there are plenty of other places to buy motor oil. If a wide selection is what you are looking for, Costco is not the place you should be shopping.

Misc Valvoline and Castrol here and 6 gallons cases of delo. They were getting Valvoline Turbo oil, a european product which was sort of a neat find, got a case and never found it again.
One closest to me here that a buddy of mine shops at doesn't carry Mobil 1. Castrol Syntec is there in 5w30, but no 0w30. Selection is very limited, like mentioned already, they need high volume in a store like that to justify carrying something.

Supposedly, Costco has buyers who look for the best quality product for the price, and buys in bulk. Product selection is limited, but once again, supposedly, they have "shopped" for you. What they carry is the best value.
When these warehouse clubs first started, you would see more commercial-grade products on their shelves, they were geared toward small business. Now, manufacturers produce large quantities especially for them. Seems more consumer-based now. So really, who's to say if the Chevron oil they carry really is the best for the money, or they just got a sweet deal on it?
The Costcos here in the SF East Bay have Chevron (Supreme, and Delo) and Mobil 1 (5w30 & 10w30). They used to (maybe some still do) have Castrol dino. The only antifreeze they have is Prestone.
About 15 years ago (maybe more) I saw a complete oxy-acetelene welding outfit (everything but the tanks) on the shelf for $200.00. Probably a good deal, but a little high for me. A few weeks later, they cut the price 50% to $100.00. I saw a trend, and I told my wife if they cut it another 50%, I'll buy it. Next time we went it was 50 bucks!! Yes, I bought it!! I don't think they do that anymore, the buyers have already calculated the marketability of a certain product in a certain area. If it doesn't sell, they send it elsewhere to sell.......
