COSTCO diesel

There are less than 10 costcos in California that have diesel and I have 3 within 30 minutes of me. I haven’t been to one since early 2024 because of the lines and impracticality of going.

They only offered B5 back then but the price was usually the best in the area.

I have 3 within 2.5 hours of me. Definitely not worth the cost of entry.

Costco is a very successful company. I'm guessing the only way to have more of their stations consider diesel pumps is with customer feedback. Maybe, with the current political administration which is fossil fuel/diesel fuel friendly things may change with diesel fuel consideration for Costco? I think having one or two diesel pumps would be a good thing at each Costco, however I guess it's not likely to happen. Costco is the only one to the best of my knowledge to offer Top-Tier Diesel Fuel. I haven't seen any other companies offer Top-Tier Diesel in my area. I do see Premium Diesel advertised at Rutter's which sounds interesting. I plan on trying a few tanks of the Rutter's Premium Diesel one of these days when I am in the area to see if there are any noticeable benefits such as milage or performance.

All 3 near me that have diesel pumps are newer Costcos in the suburbs. It’s much cheaper to build a new facility and add diesel pumps than shut down a working fuel station and retrofit. ROI would take years and not feasible IMO.

Tanks have to be replaced periodically. That would be the ideal time to add diesel. But I suppose getting permits is the bigger issue.

I thought about that as well, in many ways that makes sense in the grand scheme of things. Good point.

I was surprised to see that the only Diesel available in Illinois at Costco is at the Melrose Park location. I've been there a few times and the gas station has always been crowded: more so than the other Costco in the area. I was surprised to see this location listed as having Diesel bc it's not near any interstates.

After seeing Pleasant Prairie, WI got rid of their diesel, it never would have occurred to me that this location would have it.

Just briefly clicking through the list, California seems to have a lot of locations. Nevada only has one location in Sparks. Indiana is only at one Indianapolis location. Wisconsin is Grand Chute and Menomonie Falls

My Costco is fairly close to the Interstate, but no diesel pumps. I believe Costco has studied this issue concerning the pros and cons to offering diesel to customers. If customers would express their desire for diesel fuel, maybe Costco would consider adding diesel at their fuel station? Costco could add one diesel pump at each fuel station and see how things work out. The other thing is making sure customers know this is a diesel pump to prevent gasoline customers from pumping diesel into their gas vehicles. I've seen this happen before at other fuel stations. I've seen this happen once where a man was ready to fuel up his Toyota Corolla at the pump, although this was clearly a diesel island, the man almost pumped diesel into his Toyota Corolla. I was able to say something to him before he squeezed the nozzle, he was happy I saw this catastrophe before it happened.

As far as Top Tier Diesel Fuel, it would be great if more diesel brands would offer Top Tier Diesel.
