At 50K miles on my 03 6.0 liter PSD, I got 7 on lead...the techs said that we should watch it for the next sample in 5K. They also said this could be due to heavy towing but I only tow a 4500 pound boat...I have been towing it a lot lately. They said it could be due to a bearing. This was my first sample with Shaeffer's 9000 5W/40. Never had high lead before. Previous OA's showed Iron at 2-3.
Do any of you oil experts have any suggestions? Could it be the additives in the Shaeffers?
Quote: "An unusual rise in lead (from engine bearings) was found in this latest sample. If you changed this truck's normal operation, say to heavy trailer towing or mountain driving that may be the reason. It can also be a temporary particle streak through a bearing and if so, will diminish in the next sample."
This was a winter sample at 5K. Sorry for my mistake.
