I have a 95 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 5spd (AX-15 trans.)
My transmission requires a GL-3 rated oil.

I recently purchased (AGR) AMSOIL 75W-90 synthetic gear lube for my trans..

I wanted to know if this was a good choice for my application or is it better to use the
(SVG) SEVERE GEAR™ Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) 75W-90 Lubricant in light truck transmissions?

I appreciate any answers as quick as possible as I hope to change this oil tomorrow. Thanks

SVG is not GL-3 rated. SVG is only GL-5 rated. So no, not cool for GL-3 transmission apps.
AGR is GL-2, GL-3, GL-4 and GL-5.

My question is: Are you 100% sure it requires GL-3? I know some Jeep MT's do, but when I look at some (1993-1997 Wranglers) they require GL-5. The clue is the little footnote for the GL-5 transmissions: "Case has cast iron and aluminum sections" . (Aisin)

Either way it looks like you have the right thing.

The SVG was designed for those nasty superhot running diffs. I haven't used it yet. I have used the AGR for years and think it is great. Especially in transmissions.

AX-15 transmission is GL-3 rated although most or all manuals state GL-5 by misprint. Dealer confirmed.

Is there anything that AMSOIL makes that is a good gear oil that is GL-3 rated if (AGR) is no longer made??

The new AMSOIL gear lubes all state in the product data sheets that they can be used in applications which call for GL-4.

Rather than ask here, here you are likely to get several correct answers, why not contact AMSOIL Tech Service and find out if they are OK for GL-3 service. If they say yes, AMSOIL will back it.
If they say no, go find another manufacturer who does make it (if there is one).

Actually **** is incorrect and doesn't properly answer your question.

Amsoil doesn't have a GL-3 oil any more.
And the new gears oils (which are great) are only suggested for use in DIFFERENTIALS that ask for GL-4.

Both of my vehicles are MT's, but I can't wait for the day to get an AT. I'm sick of it really. Plus I can't wait to put a by-pass filter and some Amsoil ATF in ASAP. I'll do this before I do the engine.
