For seldom used tools, buy corded as shown below:

Cordless are great when they don't use so much power that you have to buy $150+ batteries to get decent runtime. My shortest runtime cordless is a leaf blower, can't get 15 minutes out of it but that's okay because I only need it for driveway, walk, and patio. Most of the leaves get mulched with a gas mower.

They are lithium batteries now. Don’t let the bad experience from Nickel hydride affect your opinion. :)
Even the best replacement Nickel hydrides (I rebuilt my own; and they were not cheap) only worked good for a year. And by worked good it was still nowhere near as good as my corded weed whacker in terms of performance. Plus I don't have to plan ahead and have the batteries charged in advance and stuff.

What brand and number of amp hours is the battery?

Nickel hydrides? Thanks for post grandpa. :)

Craftsman V60 (60V) 2.5Ah battery CMCB6025 cost $125-ish, or CMCB6050 5.0Ah > $200.

There might have been a short window of opportunity (that I missed) when they were on clearance for much cheaper, or it might just be invalid pricing once out of stock, that I find doing web searches as I remember these prices when in production.

I thought the V60 was a safe enough bet since these were the new CMan, SB&D designs, but apparently not, has been discontinued. At least the kit didn't cost a lot, $100 including battery & charger, and it does perform well for 10-15 minutes. I'll probably rebuild the pack when the time comes, as I never found any 3rd party Chinese makers either.

Much of the design is shared by one of the Dewalt blowers, maybe there's a way to 3D print a battery adapter for their 60V packs but I'm not sure if the BMS circuit between the two is compatible. I can probably test that, see if the blower will run on varying DC input as I think the whole BMS is in the pack.

fyi, I have both corded and cordless.

Please refer to my op:
"For seldom used tools, buy corded"

I was also assuming that Ms. Houston seldom used a drill so she chose a corded. lol
Beautiful, smart and one of the greatest singers of all time! RIP
