OK, this is what happens. I've got some files on a flash card (MMC mobile, FAT file format, 64 MB). Altogether about 1800 files in 140 folders, taking up 49 MB of space.

Now, I copy them onto my PC drive. Everything is still the same.

Next, I copy them back from my PC drive to another flash card (also MMC mobile, FAT file format, but larger - 1 GB), except that now those same files take up 73 MB of space.

Can anyone explain what is going on?

OK, I figured it out. It has to do with the fact that the 64 MB card had 1 KB clusters whereas the 1 GB card has 16 KB clusters, so if you have a bunch of tiny files (1800 in my case), a lot of space will get wasted. Unfortunately, since the 6682 (my phone) only supports FAT file system, it's not possible to format a 1 GB card in such a way that the clusters are smaller than 16 KB.
