Copper or PEX?

That will occur with copper too..although they are likely to have a pinhole leak first. Acidic water does this.

Pex. It stands up much better to corrosive water supply's and is far cheaper to install than copper.

PEX. I have replaced every problem line with it for 5 years. I even plumbed my entire carriage house in about 30 minutes with it. If you can build erector sets, you can use pex. I just redid my kitchen and moved the water lines. Used it to redo that half of my house's plumbing and it took me less than 30 minutes in an unfinished basement. I think I paid about $100.00 in pex and fittings and have enough leftover pex to finish my house if need be plus will get some money for the copper.

I use PEX in all my new houses, never had an issue. Some have 125PSI at the street for water pressure and PEX does fine.

I'd go with pex. You don't have as many elbows and the water flows better. Also be sure to get hammer arrestors where you have hookups for washing machines or fridges.

They used copper because plastic was not invented or available.
Why in the world go with copper?
