Cooling System Pressure Tester

I bought a cooling system pressure tester awhile ago and returned it because it didn't have an adapter for my Grand Prix.. I bought a new kit with more pieces thinking it'd be more likely to have the correct fitting. Strangely the new set doesn't have the correct radiator adapter for my car either, which you'd think it would given it's one of the most common V6's on the planet...

Anyhow, the new set comes with this little doo-dad; I have no idea what it's for.. Can anyone identify this and tell me what it's used for?

Could that be to pull a vacuum and do a vac fill?

Might be, the gauge does reads vacuum. What would be the purpose of that?

Refilling a cooling system on a car that is known for air traps.

I've used a similar vacuum tool on my hybrid. Works great especially if you don't have a scantool to activate the pumps!
