I am not alienating anyone from answering if you know please chime in.I ask MechanicX because he has studied this subject in some depth.

I picked up a few cases of Deere original Coolguard not Coolguard II for $8 a gallon, full strength not mixed.
Is this the one that is 100% sure has no 2-EHA in it?
What's the general consensus on running it GM engines with wet manifold and have had the Dexcool properly flushed out.
As good as G-05,Peak Global lifetime etc? Is this considered a better quality coolant?

TIA

I don't know for certain what the formula for Deere Coolgard is because it is proprietary, but I believe it is the same as G05. Many others think it is too. With that being the case it does not contain 2EHA or any OAT that one would consider a plasticizer.

I remember a poster Coolant_Man said he was talking to a Deere chemist and while the chemist claimed G05 wasn't the same because it wasn't formulated to protect against liner erosion, this is true. And he went on to list Coolgard's ingredients and they were the same as G05-low silicate, borate, nitrate, nitrite and an OAT, which probably was benzoate which G05 contains.

So I think Coolgard is the same as G05 and has about the same gasket compatibility and sludge resistance as green but with a longer service life.

I mistyped when I said, "...claimed G05 wasn't the same because it wasn't formulated to protect against liner erosion, this is true." I meant to say the claim that G-05 wasn't formulated for diesel liner protection isn't true. Well hopefully that wasn't too confusing.

No problem mechanicx i got it,this whole coolant business is a big PITA.
My big concern is keeping the gaskets in good condition.even though this has the new GM aluminum LIM gaskets i cant bring myself to put dexcool in it
(well i sort of did by mistake when i used Prestone all makes and models),so i am correcting that mistake now.

Thanks for bringing up that old thread,i found out from that thread that Cool Guard is an HOAT so all is well.
