Coolant test strips??

I use them to test the SCA (Supplemental Coolant Additive) in both of my Ford PSD's diesels. They work very well for PH, Nitrite and freeze point. I use the NAPA test strips, and the Fleetguard also. The only thing to worry about is if the magnesium and calcium are above 200 ppm in your water/anti-freeze mixture you may get a false high Nitrite reading. This is caused by using hard water in your initial fill. Also make sure the coolant mixture you are testing is below 110F.

The Navistar/International 7.3L diesel does not have liners, so the purpose of the SCA is to help prevent Pitting of the cylinder walls from the water jacket side.

Thanks, I filled with distilled water and coolant so should be OK.

I'll check my local NAPA store next time I'm in town.
