Hi,

I have a bunch of coolant in different forms:

-sealed in original bottle
-opened but capped in original bottle
-mixed to 50/50 in distilled water

What is the approximate life of these items? All have been stored in 65-70F conditions. All are g05 and dexcool type fluids.

Thanks!

I would think they should be good. There's nothing to cause depletion of the additives, no electrolysis that they are undergoing and no chemical interaction with the container.

I've personally used coolant that has been sitting in my stash, that was at least 5-6 years old and had no issues.

Q: What is the shelf life of antifreeze?
A: If the product is still in the original sealed container, then it has a shelf life of many years. We recommend that antifreeze be used within one year of purchase.

I love how Peak manages to speak out of both sides of their butto*ks, first saying "It's good for many years," and then saying, "But it might go bad within a year, which purely coincidentally would have you spend more money on our poor, fragile product."

Only open brake fluid has a low shelf life. Everything else can be used years latter. Assuming it still meets specs.

If you still have some SA oil in a can probably, sell it on EBAY as vintage, but don't use it because it no longer meets the specs.
