Coolant in oil after block heater installed???

I recently had my block heater changed in my 98 chevy truck with a 350.

Ever since August since I had my intake gaskets replaced I have been sending oil samples to make sure that there is no coolant in the oil. Everything was going good until I sampled last week and found out that I have a higher level of coolant in my oil. My truck is not losing coolant since the block heater was replaced (the dealer did NOT change the oil right after it was replaced) and that is the last service that has been done.

My question is can having a block heater changed cause coolant to enter the oil, because if it is not caused by that then I have no idea what it can be caused by?

It would be just about no chance of a frost plug heater interfering with the oil. If you have a plastic intake I'd take another look at that.

Well, i had my intake gaskets replaced in august 2009. Also after the block heater was installed, i lost ZERO coolant, but prior to that it was dripping badly from the block heater.

If you are not losing coolant , how is there coolant in the oil?

Well my used oil analysis showed levels of coolant in my oil...

I would assume that by changing the block heater freeze plug, would allow some coolant in the oil.... (maybe) And they didn't change the oil after wards...


I talked to GM corporate service....and they havent been able to tell me if that is normal
