coolant flush made Coolant level sensor light tip

This is tip to resolve it for 96 Pontiac sunfire 2.2L

I just drained, flushed, the 4yr/50k dexcool out of my radiator. I refilled and used the bleed valve to get the air out before starting the vehicle. The first start up, the low coolant level light came on. I triple checked the coolant and it is full. After doing some research, I found that the magnet in the coolant reservior floats to the bottom when the coolant low (see drained out)and the coolant level sensor senses the magnet and triggers the code. Even when refilling, the magnet stayed at the bottom of coolant reservior. So I unhooked the negative battery terminal, shook the coolant reservior tank, took a magnet from a fridge and guided the magnet up, unplugged/cleaned the coolant level sensor. Rehooked up neg terminal of battery. Cranked it up, light is off. Problem solved.

What does the unhooking negative battery terminal have to do with anything?

Mine did that. I didnt worry about it and just drove around. Went off after driving about 2 miles. Really, its just an air bubble thats causing it to stay on.

My Corsica does that every time I drain and fill the coolant. I've banged around on it with a screwdriver handle, and sometimes that makes the light go out. The last couple times I've just ignored it, and it goes away after several miles.

mine stayed on for 40 miles until I did the above procedure. hasn't been on for the past 60 miles.
