Hello,

I was just wondering what one of the preferred or best coolants was? I have read that Valvoline Zerex G-05 was really good. How are Pennzoil Coolants? Thoughts and opinion would be appreciated. Thank you for for looking!

Why does that matter? All cars are the same. A 1940 Ford is identical to a 2012 Hyundai. Didn't you know that?

The vehicles are going to be a 95 Jeep Wrangler, and a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. I am going to be installing an all aluminum dual core Griffin radiator in the 95. I was just curious about brands, and comparisons between Valvoline brand, and that Pennzoil brand of coolant.

Thanks for the reply

I don't think the brand of coolant matters. I don't recommend the brands that say universal. The type of coolant DOES matter. They have all sorts of types for each manufacturer. Green, blue, pink, orange, yellow. You HAVE to use the correct type for your vehicle otherwise it turns into a thick mush.

Hello, I'm going through this myself but the cars involved are and have been 1999 Saab G-05 as the recommended substitute for Saab blue (G-48, I think)
2002 Volvo G-05 as the recommended substitute for Volvo coolant-I pray
2002 Saab Dex-Cool recommended. God knows what was in there. brown?
2005 Saab Dex-Cool recommended. Somebody mixed it with green-ugly
1999 Jeep XJ 4.0 Peak green. I don't think it's wrong and I already own it.
2007 Honda Honda proprietary coolant. Don't ask for trouble.
Hope this helps. Kira

I would use Zerex G-05 in both. G-05 is certainly in your 2007 Chrysler product and the 1995 one can be switched to G-05. The 1995 may have old green, but G-05 is fine there. Its not a one size fits all, but G-05 is factory in Chrysler. The Zerex G-05 will be a different color than Chrysler G-05, but its fine. Flush with distilled water is best.

MOPAR is dark orange, and Zerex is light yellow, so what I do is buy 1 gallon of Zerex and 1 gallon of MOPAR, and the coolant is still a good orange color.

Who is inspecting your vehicle for coolant color? The important point is to know and keep track of what is in there. Color has gotten almost meaningless these days.

It is a matter of personal preference.

I don't like seeing coolant that is different in color when compared to factory coolant, especially when Zerex G-05 is so light it looks like it is watered down even if it is mixed 50/50.
