Continental belts

Does anyone know who stocks them? Of course you can get them from your favorite worldpac site, but I'm talking local.

Looking online it appears that NAPA does however when I call all the local stores with the part number, they all claim that they don't believe they can get it. Not sure why because the website says that it is in the warehouse.

The online sites for advanced and Autozone all do not carry.

So does anyone know how one can get a Conti Tech belt? Am I stuck with world pack or the dealership? The BMW dealer sells it for about seven dollars more then the online workldpac price. Not terrible if you're paying shipping and only need a single item. But still it would be nice to be able to get it locally.

I don't think we have many Carquest stores around here but does anyone know if they carry them?

I do not know. If I want a CRP belt I just order from their catalog.

usually you can still find a few European car specific parts places around especially in the mid atlantic area where you are try the phone book or ask at indy shop that works on them.

If you can get it through Worldpac, then you should be able to get it through a Carquest store, assuming it's one of the corporate stores. Carquest owns Worldpac and my local store can order parts from them. I've bought a few parts that way.

Check with a local foreign car parts store.

But, chances are, they'll be ordering it from WorldPac or another foreign parts wholesaler anyway.

I know how hard it can be to obtain a single preferred (foreign) car part that the large chains and local stores don't stock.

You either have to pay a premium to the dealer (for convenience), or end up ordering extra stuff to get free shipping, or better amortize the shipping cost.

I usually scrape together other items that can be used later, so there is at least some future return in the money being spent, instead of just burning it on shipping.

But sometimes, you just gotta bite the bullet.

Usually I do a big group buy. But I havent needed much lately, and you can only buy so many filters!

Ask NAPA whose belts they stock. They can pull from a lot of suppliers.

Napa=Gates. On napa's web site, they show an Altrom part number and it says that it is a Conti. However, no Napa that Ive called/visited seems able to get it...

BMW of Annapolis had it for $14, so Im picking one up on my way home tomorrow. Worldpac has it for $7+$7 to UPS.

Great belts for Mercedes, in my experience (and the W126 V8 engines use 5 of them!). I only had one belt break and that was the alternator belt. Replaced them all as it was the 4th in: this is after over about 5 years & 50K miles.

Very rea$onably priced at Autohauz in AZ, by the way...

p.s. Don't know about their serpentine belts, but their tires (both car & motorcycle) are also very well regarded.
