I mentioned earlier that I emailed Peak tech department about their coolant. I posted this in the Peak Professional thread, but decide this should be its own thread. Today I got email that said to call their tech dept number. I just got off the phone with the tech dept and this is what I was told.

Peak Global and Professional are the same thing. As we probably all realized, it's not used by any automotive OEMs (they use Dexcool, G-05, and Asian formula). Peak Final Charge is not the same as the other two, and "it is a heavier duty coolant for diesels..and could be used in cars but is overkill". Final Charge is used by several heavyduty OEMs.

Peak LL/EL are both 2-EHA and the same. I try to quiz the tech guy about Dexcool and 2EHA being agressive with gaskets, but he really only would say that the IMG were the problem.

Well there it is and pretty much just suppoerts what we already knew and believed. But I guess it's more clear that Final Charge isn't exactly the same as Global.

Both Peak Global and Professional are hard to find. Peak Global can be found at Kmart, Napa and few other places while Peak Professional is only available at Pep Boys at regular price of $21.99.

I would pick up few jugs of either if the price of concentrate is no more than $12-15/gallon.

Yeah Pep Boys has the Professional and the regular price is too high, but I got the B1G1 special and got 2 of them for $12. Tey also have final Charge too, and I think I might have rather got it since it's used by heavy duty OEMs. Maybe I can even exchange the Professional for Final Charge.

Kmart carry Peak Global and I think Napa and it's usually priced in the $12-14 range for concentrate. I don't really look at Pak Global as being hard to find. It's just as hard to find G-05 really or anything other than Dexcool or dexclone.

Oh yeah one mroe thing I asked the tech guy about Global's cavitation corrosion performance and of course he said it was very good.

I would've liked to pressed him more for whether Peak actually manufactures Global (I think they do), who originally developed the formula and if there was any test data for it, but I got the sense that the tech dept was not going to be that forthcoming with info or knowledgable when I was questioning him about Dexcool and 2-EHA gasket deterioating properties.

Probably pretty good stuff-but with GO-5 available from any Ford dealer for around $10/gallon full strength-not sure it's worth the hassle of hunting for Peak.

Yeah if Napa doesn't carry PGL that just leaves Kmart and over-priced Pep Boys. But really it's easier to find a Kmart of Pep Boys than a Ford dealer around here lol.

I'm not a Dexcool hater let alone a Peak Global. Peak Global might be good. But what bugs me about Peak Global is that no other OEMs are using it. Even Dexcool was used by HD OEMs besides GM to various degrees of success. Maybe it's similar to Asian formula minus the phosphate.

What's worse is Peak Final Charge is also a straight OAT like Global and is used by some HD OEMs but it uses a different OAT inhibiter. If Global's OAT inhibitor is good, then why would they use a different one for Final Charge? Makes you think the OEM's know something and that Global might not perfom as good in cavitation related corrosion like cylinder lining pitting. Global might work OK in a light duty car. But G-05 and even Dexcool is used for dual purpose.
