Considering the move from Android to Apple.... Opinions!

Our entire household is neck deep in the Apple world. From my M4 MacBook Pro for my audio work, phones (ProMax 16 for me) Wife and daughter on ProMax 15's.Phones are really nice. The build quality is steller. Both use M3 MacBook Air.(Daughter in college, light and powerful) Apple TV, Watch ,Home Pod's. They all just work. Over the years, we have had a few device issues that typically were self inflicted. Repair is not cheap. AppleCare for most devices, although thats just another cost....We have used it for a few things, that ultimately, save a great deal of money. In my view, the security and privacy of the Apple ecosystem and the build quality, make the cost well with it.

Much the same here.
Another huge benefit for those living/tracking a healthy lifestyle plus those who actually need and can use some type of health tracking and or monitoring.

Nothing will come close to the integration of the Apple Watch and the iPhone, possibly the iPad too as an invaluable tool that just plain works in every aspect of it’s intended function.
Also developers of products of medical type devices will be able to make them integrate best in the Apple ecosystem since it is one system not fragmented by dozens of other manufacturers.

Example- last week my healthy wife just got a hypertension alert. Apple Watch and iPhone alerted her that this condition was detected over the last 30 days. She should seek medical care and make her doctor aware. She confirmed stage one and two on our home blood pressure machine and is keeping a log for her appt.
I called a cardiologist and made a first ever appointment for next month.

In the past I used the ECG function, to record and print sensations in my chest 3 years back. Showed the readouts to an electrophysiologist who thought it was great. It helped speed up a cardiac ablation to correct a PVC issue.

Currently, I am working on keeping my blood sugar under control. I’m not diabetic but out of my own pocket I am paying for a constant glucose monitor for at least a few months.
This enables me to see the effects certain foods have on raising my blood sugar. It works perfect on my iPhone and Apple Watch.

Let’s not forget, fall detection, crash detection, and no matter where you are even without cell service emergencies can be transmitted through the satellite network. Will alert anyone you have in your emergency contact list and emergency authorities.

Always been on Android, while other family members seem to prefer iphones. No one had mentioned Motorola, but have found them durable and reliable for multiple generations of phone, as well as being excellent value. Considering the 2026 G Power or better among the options available.

Trying to minimize apps I download, but becoming increasingly difficult with all the marketing and special discount offers available if you download their specific app. Can't get over the fear that if my phone gets into the wrong hands my financial world (banking, shopping etc.) will be toast. If someone has access to it today I know there is very little they can achieve. I understand this is not as convenient as utilizing a laptop at home but have always preferred my larger screen laptop and keyboard.

Not at all happy that the 2026 F1 racing season has moved exclusively to AppleTV in the USA. Very disappointing and still searching for an alternative solution.

No Apple for me.....
I use Android phones for everything and am a heavy user. Never an issue and I day trade with them daily...
I love my Pixel 7a phone and Pixel tablet. I'm tempted to get the Pixel 9a for $249... which is a steal but my 7a works flawlessly. I wish I had Android Auto in my car. The car we just bought my wife has both And Auto and CarPlay as I'm sure most newer cars do.

Apple makes AppleTV available on Android. You'll obviously have to pay the subscription but it's an actual Apple app.

Google Pixel series phones are just as secure as iPhones, if not more.
They are qualified for US military & the federal government use.
They also have OS & monthly security updates for at least 7 years.

Google Wallet is just as secure as Apple Pay.

Use Signal for end-to-end encrypted calls & messaging.

& if you want extreme security: Have you ever heard of a Google Pixel phone with GrapheneOS ?
"If you want privacy without Google tracking, try the Above Phone (Google Pixel 10 Pro / Pro XL) with GrapheneOS.
It is built on Android Open Source Project and keeps the attack surface small.
You do not get Google apps unless you choose to add them.
The phone uses a hardened kernel and secure boot to stop tampering.
Sandboxing keeps your apps separate, so your data stays safe."

Just ask the Catalan police in Spain where organized crime members use Google Pixel phones with GrapheneOS because they are so secure.

Note I am biased currently owning a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL.

& if you travel where Google does sell or support the phones: You might not be able to use local eSIM in those countries ⚠️
But I believe you can roam on your home SIM if that region/country supports "Home-Routed Roaming".

I resisted Apple products for years. Just had distaste for all the fanboys who would wait in line for the latest phone. I've never been one to go with the flow. I got a good deal on an iPad so that started me in the Apple world. It didn't take me long to learn the different symbols etc. I have to qualify this by stating that I am old. I was married with children when the game Pong came out. I didn't grow up in the digital age so all this stuff is hard for me. But I've done fine with the Apple system. With updates Android was scary and I learned to wait a while before updating due to all the flaws in the updates. With Apple they just work correctly when they come out. I don't use Siri or all the new AI but I have the M chip products to do it. As of right now, Safari has blocked 107 trackers from profiling me and prevented googletagmanager from profiling me across 31 websites.
If an old guy like me can switch over, anyone can.

Not more secure as Apple but would agree just as secure. The reference you make to US Military and Federal government are government modified phones iPhones and Andriods for security in many cases.

I would not worry about security with either phone. I entered the Apple world for all its privacy options. Since iPhone and Apple products are one manufacturer running on one platform with a company mythology for safety and security it is inherently more safe in all ways compared to Android in which roughly 200 manufacturers use for all different purposes.
There is no denying the google play store can be a bit wild either.

With that said, if we didnt have roughly 8 Apple computers and devices in our home and never going back to Windows or Android.

If I ever went back to the "other side" a Pixel 10 pro or PRO XL would be the phone I would chose. I wouldnt even look at any others.
Google trying to grab market share has some killer deals at times if I remember correctly. I liked some of the promotions I saw on them. Like WOW!
I love electronics of all kinds, start to get A.D.D and want something different. Pixel would be the answer however there is no going back anymore.

Samsung has way better hardware/phones than Pixel. Pixel was always about "the google way", and they don't care so much about performance, Samsung S destroys the pixels in performance and other hardware aspects too (bigger/better screens, battery life etc). Pixel is more about "AI" these days.

If you want the premium Android experience in USA/Canada, it's been Samsung for years. Other Chinese phones like Xiaomi aren't generally available here so I don't know how they compare.

I would encourage anyone considering a new phone to simply go online and look at the reviews comparing Samsung’s newest S 26 or even the S 25 with the pixel 10 and pixel 10 Pro

Both good phones, but you’ll be hard to find a publication that doesn’t favor the pixel such as this one.

https://www.androidcentral.com/phones/google-pixel/google-pixel-10-vs-samsung-galaxy-s25

Here is one in favor of the Samsung
https://www.zdnet.com/article/google-pixel-10-pro-xl-vs-samsung-galaxy-s25-ultra/

Either way it’s a draw. I have no skin in the game. I almost wish I did, if I did, I would go for the pixel 10 pro XL most likely.
I don’t like phones that take a clean interface and push their own tools and tricks onto it.

Except with Samsung you are using a Samsung One UI OS, which is a modified Android OS.
Which causes delays in OS & security updates.

& some older Samsung phones now are only getting quarterly security updates ‼️

Google releases monthly Android security updates ⚠️

Those androidcentral links aren't real/indepth reviews. Watch MKBHD YT reviews, it's clear the pixel doesn't have the computing performance or other premium hardware. They focus on AI and "google/default android" experience, not premium hardware.

It's not a draw, not when it comes to hardware. The software experience, well if you insist on stock android then you'll prefer the pixel but samsung's ui is amazing, I have no issues with it.

Just look at something like the screen privacy protection on the s26 ultra, no other phone in the world has that. You may not want that, but it's an example of how premium the S lineup generally is. Another example, I've been using 120hz displays for years and iphone was stuck at 60hz back then and most androids didn't have that either. I've lost count of those types of upgrades over the years, they build a premium phone if you're willing to pay for it.

See this page for details on security updates, it's monthly for their later premium stuff

And of course the actual app updates are the same on every phone as they are released to play store.

"modified android os"... you mean they install their own home screen and some custom software bits to improve the bland/bare bones android experience, I call that a win!

I have nothing against Samsung. I have a daughter-in-law actually the only family member out of must be 40 people (siblings and their kids, my kids, etc.)that has an android.
It’s a beautiful phone she always has the latest ultra.
But you hit the hit nail on the head. For me personally, any of these phones processing power is more than enough that I could ever use.
I liken it to a pissing match between dogs😜
Or I liken it to the person who says they have a one gig Internet connection and my connection is only 300 and Now by no choice of my own 500

However, for me personally again, that’s what attracts me to the pixel, a clean slate. If I was ever in the android world again.
I used to remove and strip as much as I can from my android phones and also Windows operating system that used to strip out as much as I could

By the way, iPhones are still 60 Hz
Only the iPhone pros are 120
And it doesn’t matter to me😀 because I place other things I use my iPhone for far above how fast the refresh rate is

Choice is all good and I love competition!!

My new iPhone 17 pro max frustrated me to no end. First, getting the pictures and videos off the 15 pro max was beyond frustrating. Android allows one to plug in and your computer sees the 'drive' so to speak. Click on the files (pic and vids) you want to copy and they transfer.

The iPhone won't show up as a drive, often won't be recognized by a PC and the video files are sometimes unplayable on PC. Although the video quality is excellent on the apple devices, it often suffers on a PC.

Hey I hear you, a lot of personal preference and I don't disagree. I didn't know the cheaper iphones were still on 60hz but I cannot go back to that after a number of years now on 120hz. A lot of people don't notice it, but it's so jarring for me.

About the only thing that attracts me to the iphone is the magnetic thingy that is useful for quick mounting to a charger in your truck or whatever, but I have a case on my phone which does the same thing, and I always have a case so... (I'm not an apple hater by any means, I have a macbook pro m3 for work and its an amazing piece of hardware, though I'm less impressed by osx itself, KDE for life).

Yes, from what I understand once you use a device at 120 Hz like anything than you know the experience your missing but if you don’t know what is missing then people are still OK with it🙃
