Considering going to 5W-40 synthetic

When I asked the builder about it, he didn't really give me any special oil requirements. I asked him if 15w40 would work since it was what I had always used and he said that would be great.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I am going to try the Mobil 1 0W-40 next change and see how it does. It seems to be an excellent choice for my application and the price is right.

Hdeo´s have a long sucsessful track record in hipo gassers.
And they have a great price.
And now they are avail at 5w- 40 so why change a winning concept?
By all means if you value better coldstart caracteristics use
the 5w- 40 hdeo.
Now a 15w-nn oil can easily work in temperatures well below freezing ( say like -20 degC ), how cold is it??

I would be using a euro oil such as Mobil 1 0w-40 or German castrol 0w30 or Belgian castrol 0w-40.
The best bang for the buck is Mobil 1 0w-40. It's got some very serious approvals from some of the best performance engines in the world.
Liqui-moly 0w-40 meets all the same specs but costs more as does castrol's euro line of oils.

First choice is Mobil 1 0w-40.

I don't consider 450 hp much strain on components. Why not run 10W30- I like redline products. All engines until recently(cannot comment on new stuff in the past 10 years) was designed around 10W30.
