Considering buying this X300 - Opinions?

Thanks for all the info. If the guy's yard is relatively flat, he's the original owner, and it hasnt been used to haul boulders, I'll feel comfortable pulling the trigger on it. My old 2007 LA110 also has the K46, has been abused over the years and just refuses to quit. My FIL uses it to haul stuff around his property and the transaxle never complains.
The X300 is a significant upgrade from your LA110!

I say go for it if everything checks out. When you have time change the hydro fluid to 5w50 and you will be more than good. It requires removing the transaxle but its not terrible. I did my LT150 and it keeps going. I way over work that thing with a 15hp Kohler and it still keeps running. The X300 is a bigger better machine.

As stated in a previous follow-up, I decided against it due to logistical constraints. Will shop again in earnest during the off-season. My current lawn guy can handle this season.

Don't discount the slightly older JD garden tractors either. I have a 2000 John Deere 345. 54" deck, liquid cooled Kawasaki, and power steering. Works awesome even with over 1300 hours on it, and parts are still obtainable.

I believe 2001 was the last year? Anyways, the last year GX345? got a fuel gauge or Low fuel level on the dash. I don't remember which one of those but as you know it's nice to see when you're low at least.

Meh fill it up every time you mow. That makes it easy. My LT150 doesn't have a fuel gauge or hour meter. IMO, unless you cut a boat load of grass, I doubt you will go through a tank every time.

My tanks are 3 gallons on both riders so they last me a few mows. The JD, I rebuild, has a low fuel light while the other I just need to jiggle the mower & see the tank level in the semi transparent fuel tank. Trying to cross a very busy highway in a lawnmower, for me, is a bit hairy so I limit that experience. 😅
