I like the Toyota hybrids. My Corolla cross hybrid has been excellent in the 42000 miles I have driven it. However I would be cautious about the Toyota Corolla hybrid only because of its weak acceleration it uses a smaller engine than any of the synergy drive hybrids Toyota sales in North America.. I drive a lot on interstate and intercity highways logging 120 miles a day. And power is important for safety where I live so that is why I mention it.
The Camry is an excellent value and has the dynamic for engine and bigger hybrid systems and can still get 50 mpg easy. Its cheaper than my cross was!
Toyota warrantys the hybrid battery for 10 years/150000 miles. Most last 15 or more years. nothing to worry about.
And with a hybrid NO traditional transmission with torque convertor to wear out, no starter, etc, etc.
Hybrids and well established now.
Just remember, if you have any problems with the engine, not using the recommended oil gives the manufacturer a legal excuse to reject a warranty claim if there is one depending on what that is.
It does not matter if the same engine in another part of the world uses a different type of oil.
