Consequences of Disconnecting Battery

What about using a fresh 9 volt battery connected across the two battery cables? if you take more than 5 minutes to change the battery this might not work, but most of us could do it fast enough.

I just connect my trickle charger to batt cables and then remove them and exchange battery

So many people disconnect their battery in order to clear a code for a smog inspection, then fail immediately for a P1000 code.

Yes times a thousand. I worked as an emissions Inspector and this was common. Not only that some vehicles require an almost PhD level of understanding for a system reset. A guy had a Honda Accord, it said drive 200 miles. A lady came in the day before Thanksgiving her Rav4 or CRV had a 12 step specific system relearn.

So, short of never disconnecting the battery......what are some commonly available solutions to prevent some of the above?

an OBD II power supply, you hook it into the obd port and it supplies power to ecu and modules.
