My 1999 Nissan Sentra SE-L had new brake pads/rotor put on it in Oct 2010 and they probably have about 1000 miles on them and were broken in properly. Now the front left brake is making a grinding almost dragging noise during low speed braking when coming to a stop. The pad looks new and rotor looks in great shape. The rotors are raybestos drilled and slotted and premium ceramic pads.

Anyone know why my brakes are making this noise?
Thanks.

I would look at the backing plate, maybe something bent it slightly and it just touching the inside of the rotor or there maybe something caught in it.

Rotor surface rust?
Does the noise disappear for the day after the first ten minutes only to return the next cold morning?

Like mentioned check the heat sheilds. I did my mom's brakes a couple years ago, I had done brakes before so I thought everything went great. But then she called me a couple days later and said there was a grinding noise. I took things apart and cleaned and lubed everything up and put it back together, still there. She took it to a couple shops and they both said the brakes needed to be taken apart and cleaned, so I did again, noise still there. It was driving me, and mom nuts. Finally crawled all around under the car and the heat shields didn't look like they were touching, close but didn't see them touching the rotor. Took a screwdriver and bent the heat shield a little away from the rotor, BINGO. Problem solved and lesson learned.

Try checking where the caliper clamps to the caliper frame,It's not even noticable sometimes,,but with about 4 different Nissans,I ran into this problem. The bushings that hold the slider pins in,,,they are a real close tolerance,,and if the bushings are the slightest bit worn,,,the caliper will rotate forward and make contact with the rotor while your applying the brakes. Not saying that this is the problem,,,just check it out

Also the nissans sometimes have a spring steel slider that the pads tabs ride in. If they are misaligned they can drag on the rotor.
