1Add the coolant type originally equipped in your vehicle.

I had the rediator flushed when I had the hoses replaced after 6 years. It looks like the garage I went to used an antifreeze that is green in color. It will be a while before it's done again. I'd like to get some ideas on flushing now that I can do it. I'm used to the stuff from years ago before antifreeze got so specialized.

The all/makes anttifreezes are essentially Dexcool. I wouldn't run the stuff if it was free.

In your situation, I'd probably run what's in there for a year or two, then do a complete flush and refill with G-05... which is what's supposed to be in there.

I wasn't aware that Amsoil had an antifreeze. I waited for such a long time because I only had 28k miles on the engine so that's like 2 years wear. Finally changed the battery also since it was so old. 7 years on Amsoil? Is there a mileage limit on that?

You'd be nuts to run ANYTHING in a cooling system for 7 years without flushing. Don't know why you'd bother with Amsoil coolant anyway considering that G-05 is fairly cheap, readily available, trouble-free, and is what this cooling system was designed for.
