All our stuff use a different viscosity.

Jeep...10w30
Tahoe...5w30 but 10w30 is ok
Truck...diesel 15w40
Can am...5w40
Z400....10w40
Generator 10w30

As you can see i have several different viscosities in my stash.

Im thinking. Should i condense the 3 cars and generator to 10w30 diesel oil? Run 5w40 in the toys?

Or run 15w40 in everything and live with the slight power loss and mpg loss?

Ideas???

I like your idea of say Rotella T5 10w30 for the three and say Rotella T6 5w40 for your fun stuff.

10w-40 for everything except the diesel and generator which would use 15w-40. The ATV could use 15w-40 .

I second this notion. Just run Rotella in everything.

Oil condensing wont work Chris. You'll always find a better deal!

To me, looks like some sort of 10w30 and a 5w40 fits the bill assuming you don't mind running synthetic in the old Ford.

I second Rotella 5w-40 in everything if you need to have one grade. But, why do you need to have one grade? Just buy enough of what you need for a few oil changes - this is BITOG , we love to show off our huge stashes of various oils!

What's your minimum temperatures there?
I'd be tempted to run the cheap 15W40 in everything but your cars, and then cheap 10W30 in those.
Believe it or not, many guys here still run 15W40 year round in their tractors and just plug them in...
I run RT6 5W40 in everything but the cars, they get on sale synthetic 5W20.

I'd keep using what you've been using, but switch around if you get something on sale.

A quart of one weight takes the same shelf space as a quart of another...

You can substitute 15w40 in all your OPE for topoffs or emergencies.

I always think I have it all planned out, then a clearance sale lands something offbeat in my lap.
