Computer restart after non-commanded network change...

I've got a mac, which last night was left in sleep mode while connected to a hotel network.

This morning, the computer did it's own restart, sent a message to Apple, and when I logged in it was connected not to the hotel network but to Cox internet.

I don't have any affiliation with Cox, nor have I ever connected to their wifi.

I'm thinking this may have been some sort of hacking attempt, and wanted to check with the computer folks here.

Thoughts? Opinion?

There's a login with the hotel, but no password so yes, it's pretty much open.

Normal mac firewalls.

Following the restart, things have been normal and no anomalies detected. I'm usually more careful and shut everything down.

If the Mac did an automatic update it will restart, and when it restarts it doesn’t necessarily connect to the same Wi-Fi network that it was connected to prior to the restart.

Thanks for the observations, there was an update this morning....

Agree on updates. I’ve recently done some on my and my wife’s late model macs.

I keep them manual though.
