Hello,

I just got a pneumatic nailer and palm nailer, which request a few drops of oil every so often.

I am curious what these "tool oils" really are. The same as a compressor oil, just an ND lube oil?

I wonder if amsoil compressor oil would be a good choice. Any thoughts?

THanks

Tool oils are basically rust and oxidation inhibited oils with a small amount of AW additive in the (ISO 22 to 46) 4-9 cSt viscosity range, so yes, the lighter viscosity PCX series should work.

You can pick up some air tool oil wherever you purchased your tools. Sears, TSC, etc.

My tool oil seems a little thinner than the ISO 100/SAE 30 compressor oil that I have.

The tool oil is Stanley/Bostitch brand, and was $2 at Home Despot, so cost shouldn't be an issue.

Been using FP10 gun oil on my air ratches and impact. The nail gun came with some kind of clear oil so been using that since I bought it.

I actually used some leftover Amsoil comp oiler for my air tools.I don't think air tools require much in the way of oil.

I use Mobil Almo 525 air tool oil. It's ISO viscosity grade 46 (SAE 10)
