complete rear drum brakes 2017 Elantra

Hi,

What would be a fair price to pay in NJ for a COMPLETE rear drum brake job on a 2017 Hyundai Elantra which would be all new drum hardware kit, premium shoes, brake drum and wheel cylinder, bleed brakes and new fluid and labor?

With so many variables, I'll guess between $600 and $900 dollars. Variables would include dealer vs. independent shop, rural vs. city area, quality of parts, current condition (rust), etc.. Expect at least 2 to 3 hours labor regardless of the actual time required.

DIY drum brakes are not as intimidating as many make them out to be. You Tube videos show every detail.

They are a Mitsubishi platform right? I know the CVTs are Nissan.

Yes, the old Patriot/Compass shared the Mitsubishi GS platform (Lancer/Outlander) and I'm told share some suspension and other components. I bought my "2014" in March of 2013, the first models with the Hyundai 6 speed PowerTech transmission.

The reliable "sewing machine" GEMA (non-Tigershark) engine was built an hour away from me in Dundee, MI. Knock on wood (good Karma continue please), but mine has been incredibly reliable and extreme low cost of ownership. Krown has kept is rust free.

What's the reason that a 9 year old Hyundai would need replacement brake wheel cylinders? Replacing wheel cylinders are not typically recommended unless the seals are leaking brake fluid.
