As of this thread, BITOG has officially "jumped the shark". Nice going everybody.

Maybe its just that certain members "have jumped the shark."

He who laughs last thinks slowest.

What is that thing that goes before a fall? Oh yeah. Pride.
No country, kingdom or empire lasts forever.
Our time will come, and what we do will come back to us, both the good, as well as the bad.

China's standard of living has risen much these few years.they enjoy so much not even imaginable 30 years ago. I think the downfall will be a lack of a middle class.

Don't be so sure its all that different from here... If youre not rich, youre poor. Middle class is a bunch of feel good words that are quite useless and used merely to make some folks feel special and feel that they 'deserve' overpriced goods to show off.

The difference is not that our rich class is any different from the rich elsewhere, its that our majority of the population, i.e. the poor or 'middle class' and 'not rich' folks dont typically need to use a hole in the ground as a toilet, and can usually gain access to what they require one way or another. That doesnt make us well off in the big scheme of things, compared to anything else. It just means that we have a higher standard of living... which IMO does not equate to the 'richness' or 'poorness' of any person or small group of people.

Our feeling of entitlement (yep, not just a phrase relevant to minorities or people on wellfare) is necessary as the cost of existing in this country... we've got to make the wages to be able to live comfortably here and not have to live in a third world-like state... But our feeling of entitlement can also be our downfall, as we feel that we are entitled to everything but our rights and equal share, while those who have it all just get more... whether here or China or elsewhere.

Really "Competition with China is Killing U.S." is an just an absurdity spewed out by the fear-mongering, shock-n-awe drama-queens in the broadcast media. Consider the source.

I see 1.2 billion potential customers and am thinking of trying to start the "pet rock" fad in China KaChing-KaChing. Maybe they aren't ready for conspicuous consumption yet.

As far as Communist goes... They are actually CINO... Communist in name only. Heck they seem more freedom-minded than the "Squabbling Parasites" down the road from me. (Whatching those bozos campaign is like watching a Monty Python movie... But I digress). In fact, U.S. corporate tax rates are some of the highest in the world. Maybe that is why business is going to China which is about 1/2 our rate. U.S. corporate tax rates are higher than that of... This is going to hurt... FRANCE.

Okay ...so the devil of taxation is the source for all our ills. If we could only liberate the corporations and their captains of commerce in their business and personal lives ...providing them the needed help to coultivate the vast fortunes needed to administer to this great and wonderful nation .....

..all our ills would be solved....two cars in every garage ..two chickens in every pot ..and an assured lottery chance at a living wage will all be yours if you just unleash everybody that has everything from having to pay you any mind.

I also love the burden of wealth campaign philosophy.

If you live in a neighborhood where you are robbed at gun-point every payday then you tend to move... Was my point.

(imagining seeing this on the tv)

Wow ..even performed "in the round" in traditional trek Kirk monologue format ...

Fascinating.

Imagine what Russians think of China. How the tables have turned... Both nations have lower personal tax rates than the US, so lowering taxes is not a magic solution to create growth. Something else is going on.

There is still a LOT of poverty in China. Mao's beloved peasentry is being left behind as the economic tide lifts only a few boats.

I imagine that most of the goodies are spent on utilities and whatnot. The first evolution is building the next.
