I have an Epson RX500...that has run out of ink. Are the non-Epson compatible replacements any good or do I bite the bullet and stay OEM? I don't do any major photo type stuff, but would still like things to look alright.
I know Epson would say to use Genuine Epson cartridges only. But using non genuine cartridges should be no problem given they claim to meet the same specs. I've bought them for my Canon before and works like OEM. They can't say you must use only genuine cartridges only. Whats the price difference between OEM and non OEM? I wonder what happens to ink cartridges that are recycled?
Actually you might want to try refilling the cartridges yourself using a refill kit. I refill my Canon ink cartridges (both black and color) and quality is just like a new cartridge.
i got rid of epson printers and went with HP so i can get new heads each cartridge...
then i just made the mistake of buying "reman" cartridges on ebay, $26 for one color and two black....that's about 1/3 the cost of new, but i had to run the PRIME (the most severe cleaning program) 4 times to get them to stop printing lines....GREAT for drafts, but not for a professional resume.
Bad luck here with "remanufactured" cartridges, fair luck with reinking. Sometimes reinking my Lexmark cartridges works well, sometimes not. But I haven't had a reman cartridge work right yet.
i would not touch "compatibles" with an epson or brother or canon ink-tank based inkjet machines. thats coming from someone who has seen them cause permanent irreversable damage to the printhead.
